Using Diet Patches as an Aid to Weight Loss

The weight loss industry is very much focused on food; but it is the industry itself that can at times feed off consumers who are concerned, worried or even obsessed about their weight. Many products, programs and diets have come and gone over recent decades, and still millions seem to live in hope that there is a simple, effortless way to lose weight. There are many good diets around, and a plethora of informative guides to healthy weight loss. Yet there are always those who are lazy, and possibly gullible, who attract the predatory attention of those who market the magic pill, formula or, the subject of this article, diet patch.

The idea of a diet patch that loses weight for you has an obvious appeal to those prepared to believe. It could scarcely be easier. You attach the diet patch to your skin for fixed periods of time; you then carry on as normal. Lo and behold, the diet patch distributors tell you, you can lose weight at a rate of 1-3 lbs a week, maybe more. Supposedly, it is all natural and harmless.

With the heavy marketing of diet patches in the US and elsewhere, and obesity such a common problem, it is inevitable that some will succumb to the temptations of such an easy weight loss fix. Diet patches are sold in vast numbers, including in the US where the FDA has not approved one diet patch. What the FDA have done though is investigate many complaints and apparent scams, and over the years seized a large number of diet patches.

If the FDA are sceptical and dismissive of the claims of the diet patch marketers, then so should consumers be. Diet patches are targeted at those who want a quick fix for their weight problem with no effort. They do nothing to improve eating habits to establish a healthy diet; they do nothing to encourage a healthy amount of exercise.

Before you throw your money at a month's supply of these magic diet patches, think long and hard. Take a look at the Diet Fraud website ; and above all consider the alternatives. Healthy weight loss does not come that easily, but it is achievable with determination and common sense applied to what is widely regarded as a healthy diet, mixed with a reasonable amount of exercise. If you are unsure, or if you have a known health problem, it is wise to seek medical help before embarking on a diet. Or, spending your hard earned money on a diet patch.
