The Best Diet Food - Tips To Make Your Diet Less Boring

Also: Best Diet Food, Best Diet Food Vitamins

There are many reasons why people fail to stick to their diets, and one of them has to do with repetition. Even the best diet foods can become boring if you have the same few foods every day of the week. Some diets are very restrictive. You may have to have chicken four times a week; and maybe fish three times a week. Then there's those green leafy vegetables that I would not eat as a child. Is that not a recipe for boredom rather than culinary delight?

Well, of course it is. But then can't any group of foods become boring in the hands of those who do not experiment. If you've been brought up in a plain meat and 3 veg household, then you could have found food quite boring anyway, even if nobody was "on a diet".

You will find that the greatest dishes in the world are still made from a limited number of foods. It is true that your foods will be more restricted on a diet, but if you think a moment, there are so many types of meat available, only so many types of vegetable, and so many types of fruit and fish.

Going on a diet does not mean your food has to be boring. You can turn the best diet foods into the best diet meals. How? By using the best diet recipes for those foods, and adding your own touch

You can give the same set of ingredients to a top chef and an unimaginative home cook, and you can bet your Weight Watchers fees that the top chef will come out with an absolute delight of a meal. The secret is in the combination of the ingredients, how they are blended, and what little extras can add that final touch to make it a memorable meal. The home cook is likely just to cook each ingredient separately with no thought as to making them more interesting.

However, it is not necessary to go on a Cordon Bleu course to make the most of your allowed diet foods. Experimentation can go a long way to keep your diet food interesting, with a combination of your own ideas and recipes from books or the internet.

Here are a few ideas to make the most of the best diet foods, so you can serve up the best diet recipes that not only you will enjoy, but the rest of your family too.

1. Vary Diet Food Combinations

Varying the combinations of the foods you are allowed can make for some interesting dishes. If fruits and nuts sound a bit boring day after day, as an aside to your main meals, then try using them in your main meal of the day. Peanuts and cashew nuts are widely used in meat and fish dishes in Asia, and delicious they are too. As for fruit, pineapple is very versatile in meat and fish dishes too; you can add pineapple chunks to just about any dish with a sauce, and they usually enhance it. Sweet and sour dishes are possible without overdoing the calories.

2. Use Herbs and Spices on Your Diet Foods

Using herbs and spices is an easy way to vary the diet. Rosemary and fennel go nicely with chicken; mint is good with lamb, as is garlic; pepper and lemon mint mix well with fresh fish. The more bland the food is, the greater the effect of the spices.

3. Add a Tasty Dressing

Fruit vinaigrette dressings make tasty marinades for meats, and good dressings for vegetables, cold or warm. Broccoli with raspberry vinaigrette, or cabbage spiced up with apple vinegar and pepper are both worth a try, but you can experiment with others.

4. Infuse Olive Oil With Herbs

Infusing olive oil with tarragon, ginger, fennel and other herbs can give you a very pleasant surprise.

5. Low Sodium Soy Sauce

Soy sauce, so long as it is a low sodium concoction, can be used to flavour almost any savoury dish.

6. Fruit With Green Vegetables

If you find the bitterness of dark leafy greens, such as spinach, too much to bear, then adding mandarin oranges, raspberries or chunks of pineapple can transform the taste in a way that way surprise and delight you.
